"Cy Laurie and His Band" were generally known & billed as the "Cy Laurie Jazz Band", fronted by clarinetist Cy Laurie. Vocalist George Melly made his debut with them in 1948 and, from 1951, Laurie ran a jazz club in London's Ham Yard - which later became "The Scene" Mod-club in the '60s
