Jimmy Blunt was the alter ego of (DJ) James Chesterman, which came about after moving to Wellington in 1997, and while living there in Wellington (New Zealand). James was to dj at the 1997-98 new years eve outdoor party "The Gathering" & upon submitting mixtapes for the party, came up with the JB alias : "Jimmy" is for James, & "Blunt" was an appropriately phat word musically. Jimmy rocked the decks there in Welly, mixing all styles & genres, until late 2002 when he returned to his home town Auckland... Upon gaining knowledge of self & more insight into reality, he decided to close the chapter of JB and continue on discovering new life & new thought... Gradually he restored the original James Chesterman which is what is current today. Jimmy Blunt will be remembered for his funky-raw but clean & on-point dj styles, & mad live jam sessions with all sorts of cool cats... like Josh Lees (formerly in dn'b group Bulletproof) Imon Star (formerly in dub-hip hop group Rhombus), Matt Wells, DJ Ruffstep (Dion Dustin) Daniel Weetman (The Black Seeds), Carl Jackson @ Radio Active 89FM, Rodrigo (DJ Don Luchito) The Nomad, Tu Meke Crew (Toi & Wairere Iti, John Lambert, Derek Judge) MC Antsman (Rhombus), MC SOS "The Thorax" (Sam Stevenson), DJ Sal (Doug Brown) Danny Lemon (Roots Foundation), Russell Dench & Andrew (Harlequin Cube) drummer Mike Jensen, flute & saxophone player Woody (Jared Wood) JK & The Hairy Lollies, Matt Tui & __?
