DJ OpM (pronounced Opium) is a composer, producer, DJ, and co-founder of Halsted Street Entertainment. Since 1986, he brings a wealth of experience and a unique love for music to his performances. “I can spin pretty much anything. To me, it’s all about music and what speaks to you. Your job as the DJ is to see if you can make other people hear and feel what you feel. I try to do that in every set I play.” He has performed at Anime Central at the Soap Bubble and also helped to create the Underground Groove – a Friday night dance at ACen that was later renamed and taken to new heights. He has also performed at Ohayocon and has thrown several parties at clubs in downtown Chicago designed to showcase new and upcoming talent. He admits his favorite type of music changes from day to day. “There are so many new artists that have unique visions about the direction of dance music today that I find myself finding tracks I like in a lot of different genres. But, if you were going to pin me to just one, I would choose Soulful House. I love vocal talent.”
