Dalhas Umaï, 21 years old, has been exploring electronic music since his teens. If his music clearly draws its energy from sound-system culture, it also borrows from experimental electronic music. Modular synthesizers, granular sound-design & resampling are therefore added to the usual arsenal of the bass-music producer... The result : a unique and personal sound. In "Concrete", D.U transports us in the meanders of his imagination and culture. He skilfully mixes jazz instruments with arpeggiators, soul-music chords with "jungle" bass lines, tribal music with the rhythms of hip-hop & footwork.
