Territories are established, the young protected from predatory gulls, calls of aggression and calls of simple communication are presented. The loon's wail, yodel, tremolo, and hoot, are all featured in their many variations. Naturally, the loons are accompanied by the vocalization of other birds and amphibians as well. This provides an authentic and soothing acoustical background, as well as a comparative base by which the loon establishes itself as the dominant vocal element in this northern climate.... Music and narration have been omitted once again so as to allow the loons to guide the story on their own. The result, like the loons themselves, is both dramatic and peaceful."
