Band,
Rock and Pop
Danish rock group (1963-1968). A group was formed 1963 with Jens Rugsted, bass and vocals, Peter Gregers, saxophone and guitar, Flemming Ostermann, leadguitar and vocals and Mogens de Neergaard, drums. As many contemporaries they were inspired by Cliff Richard & The Shadows. Shortly after Neergaard is replaced by Jan Fahrenkrug and Finn “Danty“ Jensen shortly fronts the group. After his departure, the group takes on the name The Dandy Swingers and records two singles. In 1965 the group started collaborating with vocalist Annisette Hansen and music gradually changed towards soul-inspired US rock. This constallation released a single including a cover-version of "River Deep, Mountain High" in 1968. By that time Rugsted, Ostermann and Annisette had started a parallel band with brothers Thomas Koppel and Anders Koppel which would become Savage Rose. Dandy Swingers folded just months after "River Deep, Mountain" became a hit.
