The Sun Two days after a Riverside rap singer was found shot to death in Colton, police were studying a promotional album by the man for possible clues into his killing. - "We don't know if the guy was confronted by people, if he was there meeting someone," Colton police Lt. Randy Heusterberg said Wednesday. " All we know is neighbors heard gunshots and found the guy shot in the street." ; The body of Carlos James Martinez, 21, was found at 8:50 p.m. Monday at Fairway Drive and G Street. " He belonged to a rap group called Brownside, which had cut a promotional album titled "Gang ' Related." The album included different versions of two songs "Gang Related" and "Gangster Point of View." ' The album had not been released commercially, said Kerry Cooley, a spokeswoman for Relativity Recordings. The company produces music for Easy E's Ruthless Records. '. Easy E, a popular rap singer who died last year of AIDS, had taken an interest in Brownside and had been helping them. "There was never a record released after Easy died," Cooley said. ' Heusterberg said Martinez reportedly had been associated with a street gang.
