Born: November 22, 1840, Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, USA Died: March 04, 1901, Northfield, Massachusetts, USA A 19th-century American gospel song lyricist, evangelist, and Bible teacher. He was associated with the evangelistic campaigns of Dwight L. Moody. Whittle wrote mostly under the pseudonym El Nathan although editors of later hymnals routinely credit his actual name. He wrote approximately 200 hymns.
