Daniell Revenaugh

p, *1934 US
Musician / Conductor of Classical

Daniell Revenaugh (b. 1934) is an American pianist and conductor. He graduated from the Florida State University in 1959 after studying with Ernst von Dohnányi. Revenaugh was a student of Egon Petri from 1951 until Petri's death in 1962, and later founded the Busoni Society to accumulate an extensive collection of materials related to Petri and his legendary teacher Ferruccio Busoni. He also recorded Busoni's complete works for two pianos with Lawrence Leighton-Smith. In 1973, Daniell Revenaugh became the first director of the Institute For Advanced Music Study in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. He invented and patented a Lower Lid for the grand piano which projects the sound more efficiently. Various established pianists, such as Martha Argerich, Peter Serkin, André Watts, Radu Lupu and Alexander Toradze, had been using it during concerts. Daniell also patented a muting device for grand pianos to isolate downstairs neighbors from the noise. Revenaugh owns an extensive collection of pianos, including Erard instrument used by Franz Liszt at the first solo piano recital in 1848 and autographed by the legendary composer.
