SUPER SPY WESTERN TONES is a new album by Danny Amis and los Twin Tones, a collection of western and spy themes that combines surf guitar sounds with a big orchestral sound and a garage band edge. Danny Amis (aka Daddy-O Grande) is best known as one of the founding members of the instrumental combo, Los Straitjackets. Los Twin Tones are favorites of the Mexico City Surf-Garage scene. For many years they've been performing guitar instrumentals, inspired by surf guitar and the spaghetti western themes of Ennio Morricone, bolstered by the inclusion of mariachi trumpets. A couple of years ago Danny Amis and los Twin Tones, longtime friends who collaborated once before for a tour of Spain, began exchanging musical ideas online. What started out as a small project turned into a full album. In the fall of 2013 Danny Amis traveled to the Twin Tones studio in Mexico City to record the new songs and the results were outstanding. In addition to the band, Amis wrote an orchestral arrangement and hired additional musicians to give the record a big, symphonic sound.
