A.k.a. Mark Rutherford
Rutherford is a classically trained Composer-producer, who has worked for some of the world’s most prominent directors, producers, artists and writers, including Peter Gabriel, Steve Levine, William Orbit, Goldie, Mike Oldfield, Simon Beaufoy, John Woo, Tony Cinciriprini, Billie Eltringham and the late John Hughes. Recently, he completed the orchestral score for ‘Aliens vs Predator’, the video game from Twentieth Century Fox and SEGA, The score was recorded at the Bratislava Radio Studios in Slovakia, additional recording, mixing and mastering were all done at his London studios. He also composed the music for the feature film “This is Not a Love Song”, written by Simon Beaufoy (Slum Dog Millionaire). His music has featured in many other films including Hell’s Kitchen (starring Rosanna Arquette and Angelina Jolie), and Blood Brothers (by director Jon Woo). As well as composing and producing for film and video games he has worked extensively in the music industry. His work with William Orbit involved co-producing, co-writing and remixing on a number of projects with artists such as Beth Orton, Yothu Yindi, Bassomatic, The Christians, Peter Gabriel, Ellie Lawson and Strange Cargo. Peter Gabriel invited him to compose and produce an album using contributions from a variety of artists at Gabriel's Real World Recording Studios in Box. The result, ‘Way Down Below Buffalo Hell’ by Jam Nation, featured artists attending Gabriel’s Real World recording week - Daniel Lanois, Jah Wobble, Billy Cobham Joe Strummer, Papa Wemba, Joseph Arthur and Gabriel himself. His work with artist and friend Goldie led to the creation of Metalheadz and the Rufige Cru, he has also worked with Mike Oldfield, Einsturzende Neubauten, Arthur Baker, Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren. Currently scoring the British horror feature “Devil’s Bridge”.
