Dave Dreyer was a composer and pianist. Born September 22, 1894, Brooklyn, New York (USA), died March 2, 1967, New York City, New York (USA) In his early career, he worked as a pianist with vaudeville greats such as Al Jolson and Sophie Tucker. In 1923 he worked for the Irving Berlin Music Company as a staff pianist where he stayed until the late 1940’s. From 1929 to 1940, he worked for film studios, contributing songs to scores and eventually became the head of the music department of RKO Radio. In 1947, Dreyer left Irving Berlin Music Company and started his own publishing firm. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.
