Compil. 2006 on Lotta Continua label
Electronic (Abstract, Sound Collage)
Lotta Continua/ Apple Pie publications 2006. ISBN 978-0-9539367-6-2 Taken from album 'Constellation of Luminous Details'. Poetry from Philip Davenport with sound treatments by Gareth Bibby, Dave Clarkson, Ben Gwilliam, Christine Johnson, Laurence Lane and Lee Patterson. Body: A lot of people say that rappers like Chingy and Flo Rida are the poets of our generation. Who then, I ask, are the actual poets of our generation? I like to think that today's poets are highly evolved half-machine/half-human organisms that are way ahead of the rest of us. Like, they can see into the future, and they know that 2012 will mark the beginning of the Word Wars. These poets have been honing their poetry and prose for ages, and they're so ready to unleash, like so many word bombs. But what about Chingy and Flo Rida? Is it possible that they can use their rhymes as word weapons as well? How will these word weapons compare to the word weapons of the Poets? It is almost certain that Word War I will be between rappers and poets, perhaps with Flo Rida and Philip Davenport as Generals. On the battlefield, Flo Rida will be all like, "Shawty had them apple bottom jeans," then ol' Phil D. will fire back with a crazy poetry bomb of luminous details! Concentration camps will be established, but it will just be filled with people concentrating and writing poetry! Then in 2020, Universal will buy the movie rights, and Zac Efron will be cast to play Philip Davenport. All the teen girls in 2020 will buy Constellation Of Luminous Details, which has been re-released with a photo of Zac Efron on the front. What a crazy world we live in. (Aaron Zorgelton)
