Singer / Musician of Jazz and Rock
Dave Kraft is a versatile musician who plays a number of instruments, including: the piano, guitar, bass, violin, banjo, mandolin, organ, harmonica and harpsichord. Dave joined Problem Hair in 1993 as their lead singer, while still playing in the Western Star Dominoes. When Tony Bailey left, Barry Stillwell III played bass. Later, when he also left the band, Dave took over as bass player and very much enjoyed both playing and singing at gigs. However, he, Philippe Migrenne and the rest of the band all agreed that Dave playing the bass inhibited him on stage: Dave was unable to jump around quite so much. And, they all missed playing with Barry. Although the album didn't sell as many copies as the band would have liked, it was an excellent recording. Songs like 'In the Rain, 'Been a Fool' and 'Over You' will remain underground classics for a long time. Since then, Dave has written a number of songs in various styles; for example, he has written some heavy riffs, a huge number of rock songs and also some folk compositions. Dave loves and has been influenced by Frank Zappa, Obituary, Celtic Frost, Herb Zane, Joe Liggins, Link Wray, Billy Emerson, The Dovers, Richard Berry, The Jades, The Remains, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, AC/DC, Sexton Ming and the whole of the 40s/50s/60s underground scene. At present, he is a DJ and plays in various bands with Jake Vegas, Matt Jackson, Ian Fahy and Snakester.
