David Brown (February 15, 1950 – September 4, 2000) was the primary bass guitar player for the band Santana from 1966 until 1971, then again from 1973 until 1976.David grew up in Daly City, California.Brown played with Carlos Santana at Woodstock in 1969 and on several other dates and albums.Brown died in 2000 due to liver and kidney failure.In 1998, he was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Santana.
