Album UK 1975 on Virgin label
Rock and Classical (Modern, Prog Rock)
Recorded at the Manor except the guitar which was recorded at the Kington Studio. Mixed at Morgan Studios. The singing was recorded by the Manor Mobile in The Queen's College Hall (with the permission of the principal, Mrs. Stephanie Fierz), the Church Organ was recorded at St. Giles Church, Cripplegate. The narration is taken from the prose gloss which Coleridge added to his poem for the 1817 edition. This composition is not intended as a literal musical illustration of the entire poem. It is rather an attempt to evoke the mood and atmosphere of certain crucial episodes. The music which opens and closes the piece (and indeed recurs throughout) is an arrangement of Tielman Susato's Basse Danse 'La mourisque' published in 1561. The song on Side 2 is my arrangement of a traditional sea-shanty 'The Rio Grande'. © Universal Edition (London) Ltd. 1975 ℗ Virgin Records Ltd 1975 Printed in England by Robor Limited Virgin Records 2 Vernon Yard Portobello Road London W.11.
