David Bellugi

David Bellugi (b. 1954, d. 07-Jun-2017) was an Italian recorder player, music educator, and sound designer, son of the prominent conductor Piero Bellugi (1924–2012). He studied at the University Of California, San Diego with Robert Erickson and Bernard Rands (composition), Anthony Newman (harpsichord), Thomas Nee (conducting), and Bertram Turetzky (musicology), graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in applied musicology. Since 1979, Bellugi had been teaching recorder at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence. He gave recitals and lectures in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. As a soloist, David performed with many ensembles including the Orchestra Sinfonica Di Torino Della RAI, Orchestre National De France, and Orchestra Della Radio Televisione Della Svizzera Italiana. A few notable composers, such as Luciano Berio, Nuccio D'Angelo, Ugalberto De Angelis, Dan Locklair, Antonio Ricardo Luciani, and Carlo Prosperi, have dedicated works to Bellugi.
