David Croft, OBE (born 7 September 1922, Sandbanks, Dorset, England – died 27 September 2011, Tavira, Algarve, Portugal) was an English writer, producer, director and actor. He is particularly noted for producing and co-writing a string of popular BBC sitcoms with Jimmy Perry which included Dad's Army, It Ain't Half Hot Mum and Hi-de-Hi! and in collaboration with Jeremy Lloyd Are You Being Served? and 'Allo 'Allo!.
