David Lampel was a newscaster/commentator and host of a Black Ethics radio program called Black View of The Arts. He was also Director of News & Public Affairs at WBLS-FM, New York City and awarded radio newsman of the year 1972, aswell recording a spoken-word LP in 1979 for Booman Records/Springboard Int. This was followed a few years later by a 12-inch single for Prism entitled "I Ran Iran" which told the story of the taking of the American embassy in Tehran from the viewpoint of the Ayotallah Khomeini and President Carter. Actually the song debuted in a series of WBLS newscasts before the happening and it was a signal from WBLS initial stance on rap music. A.H.
