Album US 2004 on theAgriculture label
Reggae (Dancehall, Dub)
From the promo flyer included in the white label release: "David Last brings his uniques sound to theAgriculture. While rhythmically grounded in reggae music, these booty bangers sneak on to the main floor. It is never silent in David's Brooklyn neighborhood, there is almost always music playing…constant food for the should of this global city. David takes this all in and dishes it back out. David's debut 12" EP "Badlands," pursues a relentless trail forward, bringing fresh new rhythmic ideas rooted in dancehall, dub, electro, and breakbeat, while setting off in his own genuine direction. Asian metal percussion, frayed trumpet bleats, rhythmic vocal blabbage and other bizarre tones create a detailed textural jigsaw puzzle of funk. Guests Yusuke Yamamoto (Golden Monkeys), Michiko Takatani (x-Ne-Ne), and CX Kidtronik (Deuce Gangsta) get blended with the rest. The result is both fun and hypnotic. David will release another EP on theAgriculture this summer, and a full length CD in the fall."
