Young Australian David McKay, became the opening sensation of 'Opportunity Knocks', the nationwide TV hour of new talent. David was discovered by 'Opportunity Knocks' talent scout, Hughie Green, and went on to star in the first round of the 1976 series. David was born and lives in Wollongong, NSW. He attends the Dapto High School. David's mother has been his singing teacher and tutor since David's 9th birthday. It was apparent, even at that early age, that David McKay had the gift of a natural soprano voice. This could luckily be nurtured further by the musical family environment of the McKay household. Between school, eisteddfods and home singing lessons, David also manages to find some time for soccer, golf and swimming.
