David Tobon is a Colombian-American DJ and house music producer. He is also known by his remix names “Vibes”, “Evade”, and “DVT”. He was born on June 19, 1977 in Newark, NJ. David started his DJ career in 1989 playing at Underground Dreams which was an underground loft party in Elizabeth, NJ. He earned the name “Vibes” from some dancers who—when they heard him play—said, “It’s like a spirit raced over the crowd and took everyone over.” In 1991, David was hired at Alwick’s Record Shop in Elizabeth where he met the legendary DJ Tony Humphries who would come in to buy records. David was eventually recruited to work for Tony Humphries’ Yellow-Orange record label. In 1993, Tony promoted David and took him on tour though Western Europe, Australia, and the continental United States. David has played in such illustrious venues as Ministry of Sound & Fabric (London), Sona (Montreal), Angels of Love (Italy), Take Five (Switzerland), and Mao Mao (Portugal) just to name a few. In the U.S. David has played at many nightclubs including Cielo (NYC), Crobar (Chicago), Ruby Sky (San Francisco), Club 5 (Washington, DC), Underground Collective (NYC/Filter 14), and Paradox (Baltimore). David’s first production remix was in 2001 on a track called "Set Me Free" by the Soul Providers. David has remixed and produced many releases collaborating with house music artists & producers such as Scott Wosniak, Master Kev, John Crockett, Jose Burgos.
