Dawktah is the plunderphonics outlet for New York-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer John McDonnell. The project officially started on December 24th, 2011, when he produced a track on Audacity titled "Et tout ce qui restait était les flocons sur le sol", which would later appear on his debut EP Sacristy Arcade, released on Sirona-Records later on in 2012. Since then, he has put out two singles, Imaginary Math and Soirée d'adieu, and a full-length record, Reduced to Dust, all on Sirona-Records, between 2012 and 2014. On December 25th, 2014, he had released a compilation of all the tracks on his EP and single releases, plus tracks contributed to compilations and previously unreleased tracks. Currently, Dawktah has since been put on hiatus, with John focusing on his Sola Veneño project, but has not ceased operations.
