One of the pioneering Portuguese black metal bands, founded in August 1990 as a death metal band named Decay by guitarists Nuno and J.A. (all subsequent band members chose to present themselves only by their initials). The band would later change it name to Decayed and move towards Bathory-styled black metal. With various lineups, Decayed released a string of demos, 7"s and albums on various European underground labels. Around 1996, drummer J.B. left and subsequent recordings featured a drum machine. In 2002, the last remaining band member left, leaving founding member J.A. as the sole survivor, who to this day continues the band using session musicians.
