Dennis Butler, alias Scruntie Scrunter, was born in Port of Spain in the West Indies island of Trinidad. Growing up as a ghetto youth, Scruntie spent some years in an orphanage, where he became involved in music, learning to sing and play various musical instruments. Later, Scruntie became a sailor and traveled to many place, observing many different situations, strenghtening his creative drives. In 1985 Scruntie Scunter released his first single, which spent two weeks at #16 on the Reggae Route chart. On Dennis Ina De Lion's Den, Scruntie Scrunter digs deep into his musical roots to sing "I was born a man with no companion, with hard music and realistic lyrics and a total new style to Reggae Music, listen carefully".
