Musician of Dance, Reggae, Folk and World
When David Bowie toured Australia in 1978 he was particularly interested in spending time with keyboard player Dennis Garcia as they flew across the country. Garcia was filling a vacancy in the touring band and Bowie had heard about his experimentation with bio-feedback to create bio-electronic music. Always interested in getting his hands on new musical creations, Garcia had owned some of the first mellotrons, Theremin and Moog synthesisers in the country. In the early '70s he got a government grant to create music generated by his heartbeat and small physical movements while connected to synthesisers. Some of the results are heard on his 1977 LP Jive To Stay Alive.
