Derric Johnson, a choir director from California USA, has the distinction of developing 14 choirs in one congregation (Skyline Wesleyan Methodist Church, Lemon Grove, California USA)—spanning the wide spectrum of age-groups and service needs. His success with The New Sounds (3), 18 singing collegians were well-known for their quality of entertainment and the effective manner in which they communicated a vital gospel message to audiences of all ages through the medium of music. Having served as a collegian pastor, Mr. Johnson, who was an ordained minister, was in a unique position to employ meaningfully that which is contemporary in his more than 1,000 musical works, including original compositions and arrangements for his choirs.
