A.k.a. Decline
Orlando-born and the third son of two musicians, Devin started piano at age 5, as was his grandmother's last wish. In 2004, he started composing his own original work. He began his formal training in Digital Audio Production with Glenn Feit in 2009, and later went on study at Oakwood University under the tutelage of composer and recording artist, Adriana Perera. During his time at Oakwood, Devin was awarded 1st prize at the 2012 Encore Festival of Composition, sang with and arranged for The Aeolians of Oakwood University, and during his last year, started professionally writing arrangements for Choir and Orchestra. Devin received his Bachelor of Music Composition and Recording Arts in 2016. In 2017, Morrison relocated to Tokyo, where he collaborated with and produced for several artists including Kojoe, Fitz Ambrose, Budamunk and 5lack. He also began crafting "DreamSoul", a genre best described as a musical melange of Dreams, Surrealism and Nostalgia, his "Trinity of Inspiration". Devin now resides in Los Angeles and has been producing for other artists and projects. Echoes of Commissioned and Take 6 are evident in his style of harmony, and his songwriting style is reminiscent of Donal Fagen and Akiko Yano, but his music is more influenced by his family, the Morrisons, and his dad, a recording artist who released under the moniker of Dah-Vi in the early 90’s. Currently on tour as a keyboard player for Georgia Ann Muldrow’s band, Devin is set to release his first solo album « Bussin’ » on Onra’s freshly started NBN Records in April 2019.
