American Cajun singer and fiddler, born March 20, 1927 in Grand Louis, Louisiana; died June 17, 1992 in Eunice, Louisiana. Dewey and his brothers were born and raised on the sharecropper's farm of their father Charles on Bayou Grand Louis near Mamou. In the late 40s Dewey formed 'The Musical Brothers' and cut his first 78's in 1951. Brother of Will Balfa, Harry Balfa, Rodney Balfa and Burke Balfa. Father of Christine Balfa and Nelda Balfa.
