Dr. Dimitri Vychko was born in Kishinev, Moldavia, a former Republic of the USSR. He began his career by winning a prize in the Moldavian International Cello Competition at the age of 16. He received his Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Moldavian State Conservatory, and did post-graduate studies in Moscow, Russia. He has pursued an active career in performance, playing both as a soloist, and as a member of many orchestral and chamber ensembles in Europe, Asia, and North America. His travels have taken him to, among other places, Barcelona, Istanbul, Geneva, Nice, Milan, Rome, and Seoul. Dr. Vychko has several recordings of modern and classical repertoire, including in this discography a recording of the Beethoven Triple Concerto, and the Haydn D Major Concerto. He is married to Irina Davidoff-Vychko, distinguished pianist, and piano pedagogue who maintains a large studio through the auspices of Ursuline Academy of New Orleans. They have a twelve-year-old daughter, Angelina, who is now playing first violin with the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra.
