This album contains all the remaining tracks from 10-inch LP's by Django Reinhardt which have not hitherto been reissued in 12-inch format. These recordings were made by Reinhardt and his Quintet in 1947 for Anne-Marie Duverney's << Surprise Partie >> radio programme on the RTF. At this time magnetic tape did not exist, hence the recording quality is not exactly above reproach. However, the imperfections in the recording are an insignificant price to pay for the opportunity to hear a musician of such stature as Django Reinhardt, especially since in these radio performances there is an element of spontaneity and excitement which is not often found in the recording studios.
