Release Biography: "Good Evening" is the follow up album to Oscify's 2013 instrumental album, "Good After Noon", and represents a stylistic evolution of the changes in mood between an afternoon and an evening. While "Good After Noon" was mostly mellow and jazzy hip hop sounds, "Good Evening" is darker, stranger, and more brooding. From the opening moments, its obvious that "Good Evening" isn't your typical instrumental hip-hop album. The opening track, "Fashion" immediately seeks to subvert expectations through a steady build of odd orchestration and a payoff built around the song's circular structure. The first track is followed by "Flash Point" a funky, heavy, and hard hitting hip-hop beat, sprinkled with dashes of psychedelia and electronic glitches. Next, we hear "What these Eyes Have Seen", another slamming hip-hop beat, this time punctuated with grinding synthesizers where a rolling vinyl crackle is used as an instrument. This leads us to "Dream Awake". Starting as a relatively normal fast paced piano based hip-hop type beat; eventually ending in a very strange psychedelic outro. After that we hear "The Stand", another would be hip-hop beat with deeply layered instruments and some odd glitches, built around orchestral intensity. The energy is dialed down in "Promise", an emotional instrumental designed around pianos and organs, with a distinctly analog feeling and a weird but catchy drum beat. Finally, we reach "Shared Sense", definitely the most "out there" sounding track on the album. "Shared Sense" begins with a long and unusual introduction, bringing to mind a scene from a science fiction movie, or perhaps the storm which brought Frankenstein to life. The song remains very strange when the beat kicks, feeling like a wall of sound, but somehow is still a definite head knodder. All in all, "Good Evening" has a completely different feeling and mood from "Good After Noon" while still being connected through various creative threads. In doing so, Oscify has initiated one of the most unique albums of his career so far.
