America singer songwriter. Raised mostly in southern Georgia, he was the son of entertainer "Pop" Winters who headed "The Southern Strollers". He moved to Nashville in the 1950's. A strong vocalist noted for his yodeling and his longwinded singing. By the early 60's "The Yodeling King" was performing with Marty Robbins as a guitarist and vocalist. They remained friends with, performing with and social, until Robbins passing in 1982. Don Winters succumbed to liver cancer in 2002. Two of his children, sons Donnie Winters and Dennis Winters, front The Winters Brothers Band. (April 17, 1929, Tampa, Florida - August 17, 2002, Nolensville, Tennessee)
