Police Chief Don Page, once known as the ''singing sheriff'' of Sumter County, died after suffering a massive heart attack in his hospital bed. He was 56. Page, chief in the tiny south Lake County town since September 1987, checked into Leesburg Regional Medical Center last Friday because of persistent neck pain and a urological infection, said his Bushnell doctor, Lowell Clark. Page was one of the area's most colorful law enforcers. He was sheriff of Sumter County from 1973 to 1976, when he was defeated in the Democratic primary to eventual Sheriff Ernie Johnson.
