Don Santiago was a musical pioneer who forged together diverse elements of the Southwest's musical heritage: European styles such as polkas, mazurkas, waltzes, and schottisches, blended with the melancholy Mexican ranchera. This classic album, recorded 1930 1958, by the legendary father of conjunto music (as well as father of famous accordionists Santiago, Jr., and Flaco Jimenez), is a must for lovers of traditional Tex Mex music.
