Band,
Musician of Rock, Jazz and Pop
Welcome to a meeting with vital violins, fiery hackbrett harmonies bottom beating bøgeskovsbas and breakneck accordion delights. Donau Swing plays a wild mix of gypsy songs from the Balkans and Eastern Europe, mixed with the improvisational element from the French gypsy jazz. The group is with the two violinists Mette Smidl and Kristian Jørgensen, bassist Fredrik Damsgaard, the Moldavian musician Marcel Comendant on chopping board (similar to a piano without keys, estimated with clubs) and balkanvirtuosen Lelo Nika accordion. With a love of good melody and with the particular sound that almost 200 strings have coming music swing between your toes. Donau Swing has been around since 1999 and as its name suggests, the inspiration of many: From Mette's Hungarian ancestors of Kristian's jazzy upbringing. From Marcel's childhood in Moldavia to Fredriks spruce covered bass and Lelo Nikas Serbian background.
