Donny Young was the alias used in Donald E. Lytle's early years while playing in George Jones (2)'s band. At the co-founding of his Little Darlin' label he took partner, Nashville producer Aubrey Mayhew's advice in changing his stage name to Johnny Paycheck to better fit his growing outlaw persona.
