Rock and Pop
Called "one of the most brilliant songwriters to emerge from the Twin Cities in nearly two decades" by southernminn.com, Doug Collins's hooky mix of Beatle-esque pop and classic country are highlighted in his energetic shows (both solo and with his crack band, the Receptionists), soulful singing, and honest, emotional songs. His last EP, Davenport Iowa, includes the title track, which was voted finalist for “Best Song of the Year” in 2013 by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, along with the song Lesbian Wedding, which was voted the same honor in 2014. His most recent release, Complicated Compliments, came out in February 2016, and was also recently voted one of the "Best of the Year" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune .
