Album US 1957 on Spoken Arts label
Spoken Word (Spoken Word, Education)
Presented in collaboration with General Dynamics Corporation. This has identical cover art but is not the gatefold version. Some copies came in custom outer envelope (see images). "1957" appears printed on a couple of the materials supplied with the other versions of this recording ( see The Size And Nature Of The Universe / The Theory Of Relativity ) ============== This record was released as a promotional recording in 1957 by the General Dynamics corporation. The art direction and much of the original artwork included in the packaging was produced by Erik Nitsche, the head of design for GD at the time. Nitsche is widely regarded as a pioneer of modernist design of the 20th Century, and this LP cover showcases one of his most well known posters from the "Atoms for Peace" program that was started a few years earlier than 1957. Though not officially credited in the packaging, this project is the product of Nitsche and is most frequently sought after by collectors who desire his work.
