Purcill Washes Whiter 15 Mar. '91 (original version) 2 May '99 - Pyhra. A reworking of 'Fantasias for Viols' by Henry Purcell. This stemmed from a happy accident in York involving a record deck, a tape deck and a conductor friend. For the CD version I mixed in a new end. Flying Deep (Pollock Mix 1) 10 Feb.'89 - Chingford. Inspired by the artist Jackson Pollock's work and loosely based on the painting "The Deep" (1953). A live 'flying' mix of lots of tape machines 'pouring' sound, plus a little cleaning up. Tinguely 10 July '84 - Derwent, York. (originally for quad. tape) Based on the sculpture "Méta-Harmonie II" (1979) by Jean Tinguely. This is a very large and noisy kinetic sculpture which includes connected wheels, various beaters and an upright piano. For this piece I recorded the sculpture for half an hour or so and the sounds are in there somewhere. Short version.
