Singer of R&B/Soul
A.k.a. Dwight York Issa Al Haadi Al Mahdi
Born: Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A. Dr. York was an accomplished singer, songwriter and producer and musician. He later became an accomplished and prolific writer on the subjects of Black pride and ancient Kemetic/Nubian spiritual sciences. He is the founder of the Nuwabian Nation an organization who's primary goal is the spread of "right knowledge". He developed a language based on Ancient Kemetic (Egyptian). Nuwaubianism is often confused as having a doctrine based on racist ideology, but Dr. Malachi Z. York has often been quoted as saying, "No one wins the race is racism." There are Nuwaubians of all races, including white Nuwaubians. He was convicted in 2004 of multiple RICO, child molestation, and financial reporting charges and is serving a 135 year Federal prison term. His followers still believe he is innocent. Dr. York has recorded with Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The Delfonics, McFadden & Whitehead, and Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King and has been said to have ghostwritten songs such as "Love Train" by The O’Jays, "Wake Up Everybody" by Teddy Pendergrass, and "Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now" by McFadden & Whitehead. He also performed as lead singer in his own groups: Jackie and The Starlights, The Students, and Passion.
