Drake Walsh was the son of 1920s RCA and Columbia recording artist, Dock Walsh. Drake played banjo since about age six or seven. He continued playing music throughout his life, but in his later years played mostly fiddle and mandolin. He also played harmonica and the pre-bluegrass three-finger banjo style that his father used to play.. His band, the Elkville Stringband, also included Jeff Michael (3), Herb Key, Bill Williams (26), Jim Lloyd, and Nicole Vidrine. Drake passed away on November 23, 2010.
