Album UK 1982 on On-U Sound label
Electronic and Reggae (Dub, Ambient)
Another 1992 On-U Sound Production Recorded at The Manor Mixed at Berry St. Mastered at Utopia Distributed by Stage One and all other popular & independent (mmm?) distribution services Ambience is a word that has been, and still is thrown around like a mysterious - Hush Hush - kind of secret known only to a few. In fact it means nothing more or less than environment (a dictionary definition). When related to music the word means pretty much the same - a microphone/s positioned in a room / a field / a tin shed or a cardboard house recording from various distances the music of sounds, either played or that just happens along. This L.P. was recorded on what is known as "Dead Time" at studio called The Manor. "Dead Time" is when the studio's normal clients (very often extremely rich mega rock stars or tax loss projects) are taking a two-day coffee break between lengthy recording schedules. This situation at The Manor is like, not very often. After using the toilet at Berry St. (when the boiler was not droning on and on above all else) in order to get previous ambient sounds, it was now easy. Ambience is nothing new to reggae. All Studio One and Black Art Recordings incorporated ambience, primarily because of limited channels to record on. Both, however, used it in a totally different way. On this recording, limited channels was not a problem, and no attempts were made to produce a circa whenever sound-alike-a-Jamaica-studio type record, either. This L.P. is dedicated to (amongst others) the kind people who own and run the castle we recorded this in and were kind enough to sell the time. - A.M.S. Another 1992 On-U Sound Production.
