E-A-Ski

voc,
Producer of Hip-Hop/Rap
A.k.a. Shon Adams Ski (2)

E-A-Ski is a Producer / Rapper from Oakland, California. The ground-breaking roots of Oakland, CA native E-A-SKI trace back deep within the concrete history of Bay Area music -- where you can find the musical fingerprints of E-A-SKI with Spice-1 before (and during) his time with Jive Records, and Master P’s early success with No Limit Records. As an original one-fifth member of No Limit’s TRU, along with P, King George, Big Ed, and Rally Ral, E-A-SKI released “1 Step Ahead of Y’all” through In-A-Minute/No Limit in 1992. E-A-SKI produced 3 tracks off Spice-1’s self-titled debut album for Jive Records, as well as contributing another 4 produced tracks for Spice-1’s sophomore follow-up, “187 He Wrote”, both of which were Gold-certified. “Spice-1” peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and at number 82 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers in 1992, as well as being named in The Source Magazine’s: 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums. “187 He Wrote” peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and at number 10 on the Billboard 200 in 1993. Continuing to solidify the strength of his production work with Spice-1, the E-A-SKI-produced “Nigga Gots No Heart” was also featured in the Menace II Society film, as well being released as a single (with video) for promotion for the now classic Hughes Brothers film. The Menace II Society soundtrack is a platinum-certified album. In 1995, E-A-SKI scored yet again with his production on “Playa Hater” off the Luniz “Operation Stackola” album. Certified Platinum by the RIAA, “Operation Stackola” served as the Luniz highest-selling album to date, peaking at number 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and at Number 20 on the Billboard 200 in 1995. In addition, E-A-SKI had his song “Blast If I Have To” featured on the soundtrack to the Ice Cube and Chris Tucker movie Friday. This star-studded, multi-platinum soundtrack featured music from Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Scarface, Cypress Hill, Rick James, Roger Troutman and several other industry heavyweights. If you look behind the music you will see that E-A-SKI has been involved with various stand-out projects by some hip-hop’s most accomplished artists like Ice-T, Spice-1, Jayo Felony, Too $hort, Ice Cube, Master P, Nate Dogg, WC, Dr. Dre and others throughout the 1990’s and into the new millenium. In fact, looking back through the history of E-A-SKI, you will undoubtedly come across one the greatest, never-released songs of all-time, with that being the underground cult-classic “Dr. Dre & Mr. Ski”. Produced and written solely and completely by E-A-SKI this song was originally intended for release through DreamWorks/Relativity for Ski’s 1996 “Earthquake” album, but the song was never cleared for release by Dr. Dre. Digging a bit deeper, you will see that 3 years later the collaboration of E-A-SKI & Dr. Dre on that particular song served as both precursor and inspiration to the 1999 Eminem and Dr. Dre song “Guilty Conscience”, which heavily borrowed concept and idea from the “Dr. Dre & Mr. Ski” project. The year 1998 saw E-A-SKI’S first musical collaboration with fellow west coast legend Ice Cube for Cube’s “War & Peace” project on the song “Penitentiary”. In 2010 the two would re-connect for Cube’s “I Am The West” project on the iTunes bonus track “Pros vs Joes”. Most recently, E-A-SKI and Ice Cube have linked up for Ski’s own single and video “Please” from the forthcoming “5th of Skithoven” project, which has been spotlighted on several top media outlets like HipHopDX, 2Dopeboyz, Dubcnn, VladTV, and MTV Sucker Free to name only a few. In 2011 and fresh off the presentation of the Okanagan 2010 Film Festival Award-winning short film “No Problems” (which features Danny Glover of the Lethal Weapon films), E-A-SKI started working on his current project entitled “5th of Skithoven”, which is set to feature original, new music from the storied producer, as well as boasting appearances from Ice Cube, Freeway, Locksmith, Strange Music leader Techn9ne, B-Real of Cypress Hill and others. He has also been providing the sonic backdrop for I.M.G.M.I. recording artist Locksmith on songs like “Rare Form”, “Man Up”, the heavily-buzzed and talked about song, “Grey Area”, which features Slaughterhouse emcee Crooked I, and “On The Low” which has been a viral smash on the internet ever since it’s leak. Now in 2012, E-A-SKI is plotting an industry takeover, both as a producer and as an artist. Putting the finishing touches on the “5th of Skithoven”, E-A-SKI is preparing to release the upcoming single “Cruise Control”, complete with another short-film movie which will see cameos from Ice Cube and world-renowned actor Danny Glover. In addition, his production prowess has led to his latest achievement and honor in being crowned “Producer of the Decade” at the 2012 West Coast Hip-Hop Awards, which were held in Los Angeles on August 11, 2012. Ice Cube has once again enlisted the services of E-A-SKI behind the boards for the emcee’s 10th solo album currently titled “Everything’s Corrupt”, scheduled for release in 2013. E-A-SKI is also working on upcoming projects from Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child, Nelly, Dr. Dre protégé Slim The Mobster, among several others. Like any great business-minded professional, E-A-SKI is also expanding his I.M.G.M.I. empire by serving as current spokesperson and consultant for Native Instruments’ new groove production studio known as the “Maschine”, as well as for Akai’s new “MPC Renaissance”, which was unveiled at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show in Anaheim, California in January, 2012. Akai’s music production equipment is used by many of the music industry’s most successful producers like Dr. Dre, The Neptunes, DJ Quik, Kanye West, Timbaland and others. Billion-dollar social game provider Zynga Inc. has also contracted E-A-SKI to supply the game developer with music for several of their upcoming interactive programs.
