A.k.a. Eloise Jones
Hailing from Mitchell's Plain on the Cape Flats, South African E.J von Lyrik started her musical career as part of a hip hop trio called Neophytes in 1997 and then was part of another crew by the name of DarkerShadzOfPhunk (1999). She was eventually commissioned to do a song with other hip hop artists for the soundtrack of a documentary dealing with gangsterism on the crime-ridden Cape Flats, and it was then that she co-founded the successful Godessa group in 2000. Over and above her remix, production, acting, vocal and lyrical work, the conscious Ms. Jones has also performed in Oslo with Prophets Of Da City, been involved in HIV/AIDS workshops in Tanzania and the Netherlands, has recorded a track with Dutch hip-hopper Raimond Gesthuizen, and participated in the UNICEF African Youth Dialogue Programme in Ethiopia. Her first solo project, "Method in the Madness", was released in 2006.
