Hip-Hop/Rap
Imam T.H.U.G. was raised in NY's QB housing projects that claim infamous hip-hop artists such as MC Shan, Nas & Mobb Deep. His name represents all that he has been through - Imam means faith and T.H.U.G. stands for Truth, Hunger, Understanding and Growth. In 1997 Tragedy and Imam formed the underground rap group 'Iron Sheiks' to tell the thug stories of street life in Queensbridge and recorded their second EP, titled Illuminati. Aside from the banging title track and the killer 'True Confessions' the groups Tony Touch freestyle is still one of the most talked about freestyles in hip hop. It was this EP that fixed Imam's lyrical styles in the mind of ED209˚. Mining QB connex from the P Brothers Ed got at Imam ... his reply was simple "ITS BANGIN THUN - LETS DO THIS". Over the sparse ‘drums & piano’ beat Imam's lyrical 'no-look hooks' grab your attention as he proceeds to 'shut down the zoo ... and let one go' Be in no doubt he's ‘coming for YOU’. ED209˚s beatmaking follows the philosophy that 'hip hop as an artform was best served under the technological limitations of the late-80s and early-90s ... with the intention of making the most out of the least' * This is the original hip hop philosophy and one that is lost on many artists today. Karma360 is a raw slice that demands you give Queensbridge, and of course Leicester the props they deserve! * Taken from the Bio of Grand Invincible - http://www.myspace.com/grandinvincible
