Jazz (Big Band, Swing)
# 1-3 recorded Los Angeles, c. September, 1945 # 4-7 recorded Los Angeles, April, 1946 # 8-10 recorded Los Angeles, c. June, 1946 # 11-14 recorded Los Angeles, June 20, 1946 # 15-16 recorded Chicago ?, late November, 1947 # 17-21 recorded Chicago, late 1947 Track 9 written "Oh My Achin' Back" on back cover and tracklist with composers credits, but "Oh My Acking Back (sic)" on tracklist with performers credits. Trombone player Willie Cook stated as probable on tracks 17 to 21. 'Bennie Harris' is stated on release as trombone player on tracks 1 to 14 (Sept., 1945 to June 20, 1946). but this 'Bennie Harris' is unknown to discogs and Google. Discographers mixed probably Bennie Green and Walter Harris (2), both trombone players and in Earl Hines Orchestra those years. Walter Harris (2) was yet in Earl Hines Orchestra before Sept. 1945, at least for a January 12, 1945 session, as stated on The Father Jumps and may be for other sessions, according to the 1942-1945 Classics credits, as stated on allmusic.com site. He was also in Earl Hines Orchestra on late 1947 session (tracks 17 to 21). Walter Harris (2) looks more plausible for 'Bennie Harris' on tracks 1 to 14 than trombone player Bennie Green who was in Earl Hines Orchestra only later, on tracks 17 to 21, recorded late 1947. This compilation comes in a standard jewel case with a 8-page booklet, liner notes in English only. Made in France © 1999 Classics Records. Distribution France: Mélodie.
