Earth
Bureaucratic Desire For Revenge

Album US 1991 on Sub Pop label
Alternative (Alternative Rock, Grunge, Doom Metal, Experimental)

Limited to 100 hand-numbered copies (see images for examples). Sold via Sub Pop mailorder only in the early 90s. Packaged in generic plain white card slipcase sleeve, though some have a Sub Pop logo sticker on them. All credits appear at the end of the video itself. The Backing Vocals credit appears as "with specialists : Kelly Canary & Kurt Kobain" as it is on the 'Extra-Capsular Extraction' CD artwork too. This video itself is Earth's first album 'Extra-Capsular Extraction' in it's entirety accompanying bizarre mainly black and white visuals from vintage sleaze films, although there's also clips of explosions, operations, etc too. No footage or images of the band are featured at all throughout. A short extract/video loop which appears on Earth's discography page on Sub Pop's website can be viewed here : http://ogami.subpop.com/bands/earth/earth.mov VERY IMPORTANT! Any copy that does NOT have the 'NVT-45P 93084' code on the side of the video to the left of 'Earth' on the video label IS A BOOTLEG! An unknown number of bootleg copies were made and sold to unsuspecting bidders as supposed original copies by 'jennickell' (Jenny Nickell from Oklahoma, USA) on eBay and also privately around 2000-2003. The 'NVT-45P 93084' code is the ONLY concrete way to identify a 100% genuine original Sub Pop copy. Jenny Nickell aka 'jennickell' was also responsible for a DVD bootleg that appeared around 2003 and was also sold on eBay and privately (via messageboards, etc). It was supposedly limited to just 20 hand-numbered copies, but it's known that at least two different people have #13, so how many copies really exist, and of which numbers, is anyone's guess! ************************************************** A more detailed description of the video itself from : http://www.livenirvana.com/digitalnirvana/discography/side_projects/sub-v3.html If you're into Earth's music, spanking, wrestling, nude chicks on horseback, or military and surgical footage, this is your dream video. The video is divided into three sections. You really need to see this to fully appreciate the visuals, but here's a brief description (times are approximate): It takes about 40 seconds for the opening titles to appear: Earth Extra-Capsular Extraction :58 to 8:19 A Bureaucratic Desire For Revenge, Part One Have you ever seen the film Ed Wood? The scene where Johnny Depp goes to the old man for random stock footage is what came to mind as I started to watch this video. Old, scratchy, black & white footage is used for the most part. Anyway, this segment starts out with a storm at the beach, then shifts to a large woman spanking another woman, both wearing very little. A few shots of a battleship are mixed in as well. Another scene, featuring a woman being tied up, also airs in this segment. I forget where in the time line it belongs, though. 8:19 to 14:55 A Bureaucratic Desire For Revenge, Part Two The spanking continues, this time with a ping pong paddle. The smaller woman finally gets fed up and starts to wrestle for control of the paddle. This is the only part I can remember with vocals, and they're limited to a brief portion of the song. 15:02 to 33:15 Ouroboros Is Broken Military footage is followed by two nude women riding a horse. Quick cuts of surgical footage, in color, flash every so often. Next is nude sunbathing and several repeated shots of a projectile being fired into liquid. The next scene starts with a man reading a magazine. A woman enters the room and clearly objects to his periodical selection. She leaves the room, takes most of her clothes off, then returns to wrestle the magazine away. The struggle continues until she starts to take control, which leads to more spanking. Eventually she briefly ties him up only to free him so he can kiss her feet. The last part of this segment depicts a blonde reading until a brunette enters the room and -- guess what? -- starts to wrestle around with her. Afterwards, the band credits appear: Dylan Carlson: guitar, vocal Dave Harwell: bass Joe Preston: bass, percussion with specialists: Kurt Kobain & Kelly Canary The total length of the tape is 47 minutes, but only about 34 minutes is used.
