A.k.a. Edward Francis Gallagher
(1873 - 1929) American vaudeville actor and half of the act Gallagher & Shean. Their story was told in an animated movie Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Shean (1931) by Max Fleischer and Dave Fleischer, who also created Koko the Clown and Betty Boop. Gallagher and Shean also reportedly made an early sound film at the Theodore Case studio in Auburn, New York, in 1925. Gallagher suffered a nervous breakdown at the height of their fame and was committed to Rivercrest Sanitarium in 1927. He never recovered, dying there at the age of 56. His third wife was silent film actress Anna Luther. His fourth wife was former Ziegfeld girl, Helen Gallagher. See also Mrs. Ed Gallagher.
