A.k.a. H. Edwin “Ed” Kennedy
H. Edwin “Ed” Kennedy (b. May 15, 1921 in Sayre, Pennsylvania USA, d. June 12, 2014 in Wilmington, Delaware USA) was the founding owner of Ken-Del Productions, Inc. which continues to operate in Wilmington, Delaware USA for more than 64 years (as of 2014). Born on May 15, 1921 in he was the son of the late Homer E. Kennedy, Sr. and Helen Anna Goeke Kennedy. Ed graduated from Sayre High School, Class of 1940. On August 12, 1942 he joined the U.S. Army Signal Corp. and spent the next two years attending classes at Pennsylvania State College, Philadelphia Signal Depot Civilian Training Division at Temple, Fordham University and NYU. While in the US Army Signal Corp., he proudly served his country during World War II with the 9th Armored Division in Rhineland Central Europe. Ed’s tour of duty included the Battle of the Bulge and Liberation of Buchenwald Concentration Camp. During his service, Ed was awarded several decorations including the Presidential Unit Citation, American Service Medal, EAME Service Medal and WWII Victory Medal. Following his discharge from the military, Ed started his lifelong career in the recording industry. From 1946 to 1960 he served as Chief Engineer of WILM Radio Station. In 1950 Ed launched his own recording company, Ken-Del Productions, Inc. He recently fulfilled his dream with the completion of Delaware’s largest commercial recording studio. On October 15, 1954, he married Marjorie Leap. He and Marjorie raised their three daughters. Ed was a member of the Masonic Rural Amity Lodge No. 70 in Athens, Pennsylvania USA, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge No. 74 in Wilmington, Delaware USA and served as Vice President of the Big Band Society in Wilmington, Delaware USA.
